The Cheap solution for a Smart Home


        Hi! I just received the new gLink Smart garage door opener by DeviceLinked.  I set it up and it works like a charm.  So what is a 'Smart Garage door Opener'?  It is a device that connects you Garage to your phone.  The gLink has an app for both IOS and Android 5.0 and above.  It uses Bluetooth LE 4.0 and has a range of up to 30 feet.  It features a super easy to use installation process.  Simply plug in the 2 wires click the button and your all done.  You can buy it HERE for $44.99

Pros

  • Long Range (30ft)
  • Bluetooth LE (low energy)
  • Works with Android and IOS
  • Easy to Install
  • Works out of the box

Cons

  • Doesn't Use WiFi (but DeviceLinked will most likely come out with a WiFi model Soon)
  • Doesn't work with Alexa or Wink
All in all the gLink is a great product for the price you are getting it at.

                   Google is a very interesting company.  They started out with a Search engine.  Then they started to do phones, routers, chrome casts, etc.  Google has said that they are going to e releasing Google Home later this year.                    Google Home is no different.  Google has been rumored to build a smart home hub, like the Amazon Echo, but not until recently google has officially announced Google Home .  Google home is a device like The Amazon Echo but instead of the wake word "Alexa" google will be using "Ok Google" just like google now.  There are lots of different devices that function like the Echo and Google Home.  Siri is one of them.  Siri isn't the best but it is good for changing the song.  Google hasn't given us much detail on the Google home but I will be sue to Post once it is released.
